The Route du Rhum race started at 14.00 2 November 2014. Thirty minutes into the race a rain squall with heavy rain obliterated the fleet. Many boats were heavily reefed at the start of the race in anticipation of the squally weather.
When Henrik tells about our trip, he usually says that he likes to sail and I like to go places. I find the places, I would like to go to, Henrik gets us there, and I figure out what to see, when we are there. Sometimes Henrik objects a little to the things I want to do and see, but my enthusiasm isn't too big either, when we sailing against the wind or sailing overnight.
The official opening of the Route du Rhum event in St Malo started today.
We have now reached the end of our summer stay in New York. For little over three months we have belonged on a mooring on the Hudson River, and it’s been an incredible experience, but now we are also ready now to move on and see new things – and Henrik is also looking forward to start sailing again.

Boatshed Performance ‘The fastest place to sell and buy race boats and performance cruisers’. Boatshed Performance is a specialist brokerage for the sale and purchase of custom built racing yachts (including Volvo 70s, Volvo 60s, Open 60s, Open 50s, Class 40s, Open 30s and Mini Transat yachts) and performance cruisers and one design yachts set-up and maximised for competitive Club, IRC and RORC racing (such as Maxis, TP 52s, Farr 45s, Farr 40s, Swan 42s, 40.7s, First 40s, 34.7, Kers, X Yachts, J Boats, Sigmas, Reflexes, etc).
Together with the Marine Inspection Association of leading marine surveyors, Boatshed has introduced the use of IPAs when selling sail and motor boats. Boats we sell are physically inspected, assessed and reported upon by an experienced, independent, marine surveyor before they are listed. Up to 55 critical areas of a second-hand boat are assessed.

In October members of the Boatshed team traveled to Paris for Paris Fashion Week, as guests of Dato' Nancy Yeoh, the well-known international public relations guru. Fashion and boating enjoy a close association, and Boatshed is working with a number of agent representatives developing ideas to roll-out more Boatshed offices across Asia.

After almost 9 days at sea we made it to Bermuda last Saturday. We didn't move very fast (we averaged under a 100 nm a day), but it was one of the most comfortable offshore passages we've yet had.
The Boatshed ketch Supertaff was en route from Alderney in the Channel Islands back towards Portsmouth UK when a mayday relay was heard over the radio. This concerned the case of a missing seaman on a bulk carrier, the M/V Julia. The skipper had relayed a mayday having found that a crew member had gone missing.
After one week at sea, we still have nearly 200 nautical miles left to Bermuda. At the moment it looks like we'll arrive in Bermuda Saturday – just in time for the Champions League Final (If they care about that in Bermuda).
Some months have passed since our last newsletter and, whilst we haven’t covered a lot of sea miles, we have fulfilled our goal to cruise the northern Caribbean islands slowly, taking time to really get to know them, rather than ‘pass through’ as we did in dear old Penmar, on our previous voyage to these parts.
Henrik and I often describe ourselves as marina animals. We always love being in a marina, and I’m the first to suggest going into a marina instead of anchoring up outside.
